Is the convention starting after Disneyland's birthday this year. It looks like it from the dates above so I'm a little confused.

Yes the convention proper will start on Thursday July 19th and run through Sunday July 22nd.
However we will be hosting a Special Event in Disneyland on Tuesday July 17th. There will be more info on the July 17th event in the next couple of week,
