President's Message - Spring 2011
Springtime is a rebirth of nature's beauty. For me, it is a reminder of both a time to look back at what was, and a time to look forward to what will be. It's that "circle of life" thing.
Our organization is dedicated to preserving the rich legacy envisioned by Walt Disney. Imagination, creativity and detail are just a few of the adjectives used over the span of the nearly a century to describe how Walt Disney first entiched our lives as children and why we are still drawn as adults.
But there is more to Disney than searching for a word. It's a feeling of comfort. The key is to find the source of that feeling.
In 2009, the Walt Disney Family Museum opened its doors inside the Presidio complex in San Francisco. The galleries tell the Disney story through Walt's words, a story that takes hours to tell.
The Disneyana Fan Club hosted a special luncheon at the Museum on April 2, 2011, presenting our Heritage Award to the Disney family. Attending members were afforded the rare opportunity to listen and spend time with Walt's daughter, Diane Disney Miller, her husband and former Disney CEO, Ron Miller, and grandchildren, Walter and Joanna Miller.
We heard some wonderful stories about growing up with Walt Disney as your father and grandfather.
But this was so much more than merely listening to amusing anecdotes.
In certain respects, Walt Disney has become an abstract personna.
Of course we understand and respect his value system, but the family embodies everything we know about "Uncle Walt" which in turn reinforces our love and admiration.

Imagine as a children how it would be to receive as birthday gifts some tickets to Disney World to take you friends with. I guess it could be the most beautiful dream of a child. It isn't that hard to make it happen, as parent you just need to be a little organized and make it happen.
