Fall 2011 President's Blog - Visit to Star of the North Chapter

It's a beautiful, crisp fall day for my visit to the Star of the North Chapter located in "Minnie-sota".  The members have invited me to share in a 20th anniversary celebration of their chapter.

Summer 2011 President's Blog - Visit to the Land of Mickey Chapter

It's been a busy year and several months since I had an opportunity to visit a chapter, but my first chapter visit in 2011 was well worth the wait.

My favorite wife, Anita, accompanied me for a drive to Chicago, Illinois to spend some time with the Land of Mickey Chapter.  We had fun along the way, stopping for an ice cream cone among other things.  We also learned a valuable lesson about trying to drive through downtown Chicago on a Friday afternoon - if only we had a train to ride from Ohio.

December 31, 2010 Visit To SW British Columbia Chapter

 SW BRITISH COLUMBIA CHAPTER

From Seattle, it's about a 2-3 hour drive north and up into the mountains, and lots more snow, to reach the Canadian border and head into the city of Vancouver, British Columbia.  The tall glass buildings reminded me of the Emerald City in the Wizard of Oz.

What began on Mickey's birthday in 1994 as the Pion-ears Chapter has grown into today's SW British Columbia Chapter.  There are 50 members who come to quarterly themed meetings at a different member's home each time - that way, everyone has the chance to look at all the Disney collections.  And I have to tell you that I got to see what has to be the largest Scrooge McDuck collection anywhere on the planet!

December 15, 2010 Visit To Mountaineers Chapter

 Mountaineers Chapter

On November 18, 2010, I flew northwest from Ohio, stopping in Minneapolis, to visit the Mountaineers Chapter located in Seattle, Washington.  It's been many years since my last visit, but this remains a vibrant modern city picturesquely situated between the Olympic and Cascade Mountain ranges.  It rarely snows there, but just my luck - it snowed.

I truly enjoy opportunities to visit the homes of our members to see what they collect and this trip did not disappoint.  On this visit, I saw Tinkerbell, Goofy, and lots of trains.

SEPT 23, 2010

Hollywood, movie stars, and Mickey Mouse of course.  On September 17, I visited with the Studio Chapter in Los Angeles.  Actually, we all met at the Great Park in Orange County, California for a field trip to ride a tethered ballooon.  The park was amazing - it used to be a marines air force station.
